Post offices in Southern Sardinia see surge in passport requests
Post offices in Southern Sardinia are experiencing a significant surge in electronic passport applications. The Dolianova post office has recorded 204 requests since the service began on April 22, 2024, making it the leader among municipalities with fewer than 15,000 inhabitants. Other high-demand locations include Guspini with 198 requests and Sanluri with 176.
To utilize the service, residents must book appointments via the Poste Italiane website or app, or visit enabled counters with valid identification, a tax code, and two recent photographs. The process includes on-site digital fingerprinting. Costs consist of a 42.50 euro ministerial fee, a 73.50 euro stamp duty, and a service commission.
This expansion is part of the ‘Polis’ project, which aims to modernize local services. In Southern Sardinia, 100 post offices have already been renovated, with the goal of completing all 113 targeted locations by the end of the year. In addition to passports, these offices provide civil registry certificates and INPS services, such as pension statements.
