Postal worker indicted for destroying Alabama campaign mailers
A federal grand jury has indicted Sekondi Watts, a 43-year-old U.S. Postal Service employee from Center Point, Alabama, for the destruction of mail.
According to the indictment, Watts allegedly destroyed a batch of campaign mailers in April 2026. The mail was intended for a candidate running for the Alabama State Senate and the incident occurred in Shelby County. The case was investigated by the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General.
U.S. Attorney Phillip W. Williams Jr. stated that the indictment reflects a commitment to protecting election integrity and the U.S. Mail. Assistant U.S. Attorney and Election Crimes Coordinator Brett A. Janich is prosecuting the case.
