Poste Italiane expands Polis project to enhance public services in small towns

Poste Italiane is implementing its Polis project to enhance public administration access in small Italian municipalities with fewer than 15,000 residents. The initiative, funded through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), aims to bridge the digital divide and promote economic and social cohesion in rural and internal areas.

In Sicily, the project has reached its final stage with the commencement of works in Assoro. The program has renovated post offices in 325 small Sicilian centers, introducing single-window service points. These offices now provide access to various public services, including INPS pension services, civil registry certificates, and passport applications, alongside traditional postal and financial services.

Beyond administrative functions, the project includes ecological upgrades such as smart building systems, photovoltaic installations, and electric vehicle charging stations. Renovated spaces also feature co-working and training areas for citizens and professionals. In Vanzaghello, office renovations are currently underway to optimize space and environmental comfort, with full service reintegration expected by late October.
