Poste Italiane issues Dylan Dog commemorative stamp

Poste Italiane has released a new postage stamp dedicated to the cult Italian comic book character Dylan Dog to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the series. The stamp, with a face value of 1.35 euros, is part of the “Excellences of Italian Cultural Heritage” thematic series.

The visual design is based on the illustration “Il quarto stato dei mostri” (The Fourth Estate of Monsters) by long-time series artist Angelo Stano. It depicts the “nightmare investigator” surrounded by creatures from his universe. Collectors can also find accompanying philatelic products, such as commemorative envelopes, postcards, and special first-day cover editions.

Created by writer Tiziano Sclavi and first published by Sergio Bonelli Editore in October 1986, Dylan Dog evolved from an experimental horror series into a massive cultural phenomenon. At its peak in the 1990s, the series achieved significant global popularity and high monthly circulation.
