Poste Italiane workers in Umbria extend overtime ban

Labor unions UilFpc and Slc Cgil have extended a ban on overtime for all Poste Italiane employees in the Umbria region of Italy. The protest is scheduled to continue through the end of the summer.

The unions cite deteriorating working conditions, including insufficient staffing levels and increased workloads for both mail carriers and postal office staff. A primary driver of the protest is the lack of protection against extreme heat. Unions report that mail carriers are forced to work on hot streets during peak temperature hours, between 11:00 and 16:00, without adequate safeguards.

Additionally, workers have reported structural inadequacies, such as malfunctioning air conditioning systems in both postal offices and delivery vehicles. The unions stated that the company has refused to discuss revising work schedules to avoid high-risk outdoor activities during the hottest parts of the day.
