PostModernism Museum presents democracy conference in Gothenburg
The PostModernism Museum, a private Romanian museum institution, presented the international conference ‘From Archive to Arena: Culture, Memory and Resilience – Eastern European Perspectives’ at the Frihamnsdagarna democracy festival in Gothenburg, Sweden.
The conference featured four Romanian researchers and practitioners—Antonia Colibășanu, Cosmin Popa, Adrian Cioflâncă, and Cosmin Nasui—who examine the intersection of geopolitics, history, culture, memory, and democratic resilience. The discussion focused on how totalitarian and authoritarian regimes have constructed and recycled cultural narratives, ranging from Cold War propaganda to modern digital disinformation, and how culture can serve as a tool for democratic defense.
The presentation utilized research from the DARE (Documentare, Arhivare, Revalorificare, Expunere) program, which has been active since 2015. The event was supported by the Romanian Cultural Institute’s Cantemir 2026 Program, in partnership with Space-time Works and Radio România Internațional.
