PostNL expands heavy-duty electric fleet with Mercedes-Benz trucks

PostNL is expanding its heavy-duty electric vehicle fleet by adding six Mercedes-Benz eActros trucks. This addition increases the company’s total number of electric trucks from one to seven.

The new vehicles are designed for longer routes across the Netherlands and Belgium, featuring an autonomy of approximately 500 kilometers even when carrying a full trailer. These trucks are expected to cover roughly 150,000 kilometers annually. Once fully operational, electric vehicles will account for approximately 2.5% of the total kilometers driven by PostNL’s heavy transport fleet.

This expansion is part of a broader sustainability strategy. PostNL aims to have nearly half of its heavy transport fleet electrified by 2031 and targets a 45% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2030. The company also utilizes renewable fuels, such as HVO100 and bio-LNG, to meet its climate objectives.
