Postoloprty vandals admit to defacing new historical paving

Teenagers have come forward to admit to vandalizing newly installed paving in Postoloprty. The damage occurred in early July on Mírové náměstí, which had recently undergone an expensive modernization and was officially opened on June 13.

The vandals used black spray paint to deface paving stones featuring a historical inscription from the Dalimil Chronicle, which mentions the name of the town. Following the incident, the city reported the matter to the Czech Police and provided security camera footage.

Due to their young age, the police have decided not to pursue criminal charges. However, an agreement has been reached between the city and the perpetrators to compensate the municipality for the damages. The city has already professionally cleaned the stones at its own expense and will seek reimbursement from the individuals involved.
