Posušje schools report increase in students returning from abroad

Schools in the Posušje region of Bosnia and Herzegovina are reporting an increase in students returning from abroad. This academic year, at least 15 children have been recorded as having returned or moved to the area with their families, including five first-grade students.

The highest number of returnees is noted at the Ivane Mažuranića Elementary School, which hosts 14 students who previously lived abroad. These students come from various backgrounds, including seven from Austria, five from Germany, and two from Croatia. The students are distributed across nearly all grade levels from first to ninth.

School director Stipe Bešlić stated that this trend of returning children has been observed consistently for the last three years. He noted that in the previous school year, there were 23 returnees. Bešlić highlighted that the influx of families, including some with no prior family or ancestral ties to Posušje, suggests the municipality is becoming a desirable place to live.
