Potential Tropical Storm Hernán Monitored off Baja California, Mexico

Mexico’s National Water Commission (Conagua) is tracking a low‑pressure area southwest of the Baja California peninsula. The system has a 20 % chance of developing into a tropical cyclone within the next seven days and would be named Hernán if it reaches tropical‑storm intensity.

A second disturbance is being watched southwest of the Jalisco, Colima and Michoacán coasts, also with a 20 % development probability. Neither system poses an immediate threat to the Mexican mainland, but their circulation could increase moisture and trigger showers or thunderstorms in regions such as Puebla’s Sierra Norte, the Mixteca, Mexico City and surrounding high‑altitude areas.
