Potenza authorities seize non-compliant diesel during fraud investigation

Authorities in the province of Potenza have seized hundreds of liters of diesel following inspections by the Guardia di Finanza and the Agenzia delle Dogane e dei Monopoli. The fuel was found to have a flash point significantly lower than the legal limits required for automotive use, posing potential safety risks.

The investigation, triggered by risk analysis, targeted specific distributors in the Basilicata region. The suspected illegal fuel has been seized under allegations of fraud in the exercise of commerce, and the responsible parties have been reported to the local judiciary. This follows a similar operation in May, where over 5,200 liters of non-compliant diesel were also seized.

In related regional security efforts, Prefect Michele Campanaro has also facilitated a new memorandum of understanding to prevent illegal activities and safety hazards within and near public establishments, fostering cooperation between institutions, law enforcement, and the economic sector.
