Potosí students to return to in-person classes following snowfall
Students in Potosí, Bolivia, are scheduled to return to in-person classes starting Tuesday, August 25, following a period of remote learning. The decision was made by the Departmental Directorate of Education after consultations with the Departmental Health Service (SEDES) and the National Service of Meteorology and Hydrology (Senamhi).
The shift to virtual classes was initially implemented on Monday, August 24, due to intense snowfall and a sharp drop in temperatures that affected the region. To protect students from extreme cold, authorities have advised maintaining extended winter schedules.
Meteorological forecasts indicate clear skies through Thursday, though minimum temperatures are expected to remain between zero and one degree Celsius. Education officials have requested that parents ensure children are dressed warmly, while health authorities await reports on the incidence of acute respiratory infections following the recent snowfall.
