Potries begins park renovation to create new climate refuge
The Potries City Council has launched a project to remodel and expand the Fira de Potries park, transforming it into a climate refuge. The initiative, titled ‘Climate refuge: renaturalization of the Potries fairground’, involves a total investment of 154,056 euros, funded through the 2024-2027 Open Investment Plan of the Diputación de Valencia.
The project aims to adapt the municipality to high temperatures by increasing green space and reducing asphalt. Key improvements include removing 1,400 square meters of asphalt (a 30% reduction), planting 36 new trees from eight different species to provide shade, and expanding children's play areas. Additionally, the plan includes the integration of the Fonda d'Entitats courtyard and the designation of 70 parking spaces.
