Potsdam administration faces accusations of structural failure

The city of Potsdam is facing allegations of structural administrative and leadership failure. Critics point to deteriorating infrastructure and unfulfilled promises regarding social services as evidence of systemic issues under the current leadership of Mayor Noosha Aubel, following the tenure of Mike Schubert.

A primary example cited is the state of Rudolf-Breitscheid-Straße in Babelsberg. Despite warnings and a previous 10 km/h speed limit imposed in May 2026, the road remains in a hazardous condition with torn asphalt and exposed paving. This decay poses significant risks to cyclists, motorcyclists, and e-scooter users, while also undermining accessibility.

The city's road maintenance backlog is estimated at approximately 300 million euros. The ongoing neglect of critical infrastructure and the failure to implement recognized aid for severely disabled children have led to accusations that the municipal administration is failing in its duty to maintain public safety and sustainable maintenance.
