Potsdam opens new creative and cultural district

A new creative district for media, art, and culture has officially opened in the historic center of Potsdam, Germany. Spanning approximately 25,000 square meters across seven buildings, the 'Kreativ-Quartier' provides studios, offices, rehearsal rooms, and event spaces.

Of the total area, roughly 16,000 square meters are dedicated to the cultural and creative industries, including 8,000 square meters offered at reduced rental rates. The project involved an investment of approximately 120 million euros by developer Glockenweiß, with Ideal Lebensversicherung serving as a major investor.

Potsdam Mayor Noosha Aubel described the project as a model for urban cooperation and a strong signal against the displacement of creative spaces from city centers. Brandenburg Culture Minister Manja Schüle also noted that the district serves as a vital signal for the state's cultural infrastructure, housing not only artists but also academies and various creative professions.
