Poultry farm fires in Blora and Majalengka cause massive livestock losses

Two separate poultry farm fires in Indonesia have resulted in significant livestock losses and financial damage.

In Blora, Central Java, a fire destroyed two chicken coops in Kunduran on the night of September 8, 2026. Approximately 30,000 one-week-old chickens died in the blaze. The fire, which reportedly began with an explosion, destroyed various farming equipment including blowers, diesel engines, and feed supplies. Total losses are estimated at Rp1.8 billion. Authorities suspect an electrical short circuit in a blower dynamo may have caused the incident.

In Majalengka, West Java, a fire broke out at a farm in Kulur Village on the morning of September 6, 2026. The blaze destroyed 18,000 day-old chicks (DOC) and a large coop structure. Strong winds contributed to the rapid spread of the flames. Local police suspect the cause was also an electrical short circuit involving a blower. The owner's losses are estimated at approximately Rp2 billion, covering the building, equipment, and livestock.
