POW Japan expands donation-based lift tickets to 17 ski resorts

Protect Our Winters Japan (POW JAPAN) has announced the expansion of its donation-based lift ticket initiative, known as ‘POW Ticket’, for the 2026-27 season. The program will now be implemented at 17 ski resorts across seven prefectures in Japan.

Participating resorts will use the donations to fund various sustainability projects. These include forest maintenance, transitioning to renewable energy, upgrading to LED lighting, and implementing waste reduction measures. For example, Ikenotaira Onsen Alpen Brix Ski Resort plans to use funds for forest management and replacing snowmaking machines with models that meet emission regulations, while Nozawa Onsen Ski Resort aims to promote LED lighting installation.

Additionally, the organization is expanding the ‘Yuki Maji POW Ticket’, a version specifically designed for younger skiers aged 19 to 22. This expansion aims to engage the next generation in climate change awareness while providing them with opportunities to enjoy winter sports.
