POWA Oyo State empowers police families with equipment and cash

The Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA) Oyo State Chapter held an empowerment programme for the wives of serving police officers and members of the Late Police Wives Association (LAPOWA). The initiative aimed to strengthen economic capacity, promote self-reliance, and improve the welfare of police families.

During the event, 112 items and forms of support were distributed, including 10 freezers, 10 sewing machines, 5 grinding machines, 20 gas cylinders, 15 hair dryers/straighteners, and 52 bags of rice. Additionally, 20 beneficiaries received cash assistance to support their businesses and livelihood activities.

Mrs. Bukola Abimbola, the wife of the Commissioner of Police and Chairperson of POWA Oyo State Chapter, stated that the program was designed to provide practical means for increasing income and economic stability. She noted that supporting police families is essential for strengthening the home front and the morale of police personnel. The program also saw participation from representatives of the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA), the Customs Officers’ Wives Association (COWA), and the Nigeria Immigration Service.
