Powderfinger reunion rumors grow following cryptic Australian billboards

Speculation is growing regarding a potential reunion of the iconic Australian rock band Powderfinger following a series of cryptic marketing clues. Digital billboards have appeared in major cities, including Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane, displaying ciphers such as “ALBUMS: 7, FLIGHTS: 33, CREW: 235, MEMBERS: 5.”

A new Instagram account titled @thereturnoftheelectrichorsemen has also emerged, referencing the band’s 1996 track “(Return of) the Electric Horseman.” The account’s bio features five horse emojis, which fans interpret as representing the band’s five members: Bernard Fanning, Darren Middleton, Ian Haug, John Collins, and Jon Coghill. Other clues include the date “13. 11. 2010,” marking the band’s final performance during their Sunsets farewell tour.

While the band’s official social media accounts have reportedly interacted with the campaign, Powderfinger has not yet made an official announcement. The group originally disbanded in 2010 after more than two decades together, though they briefly reunited for a charity livestream in 2020.
