Power Automate Filter Array performance issues identified
Analysis of Microsoft Power Automate reveals unexpected performance issues when using the Filter Array action within loops. In testing scenarios involving over 1,000 iterations, the Filter Array action was found to take approximately one second per operation, whereas Dataverse List row actions completed significantly faster.
The performance bottleneck is attributed to the volume of data being processed. When multiple List row actions are placed inside an ‘apply to each’ loop, the system repeatedly fetches small amounts of data. An optimization strategy involves collecting all necessary records from Dataverse before entering the loop. By using Filter Array actions to query data already held in memory rather than repeatedly calling the datasource, users can improve automation efficiency.
