Power Laser Technology raises 1.2 billion yen for fusion and space tech
Power Laser Technology Inc., a startup originating from the Osaka University Institute of Laser Science, has raised approximately 1.2 billion yen through third-party allotment of shares and loans. This brings the company's total funding to roughly 1.6 billion yen.
The company specializes in developing high-energy, high-repetition-rate power laser light sources. The newly acquired funds will be directed toward two primary technological frontiers: the development of power laser light sources for laser fusion energy and the advancement of space situational awareness (SSA) to monitor small space debris that is difficult to track from the ground.
Investors in this round include several venture capital firms such as Incubate Fund, Angel Bridge, DBJ Capital, and the Mori Building Innovation Fund managed by Spiral Innovation Partners, with financing provided by the Japan Finance Corporation.
