Power Metallic launches economic assessment for Nisk project in Quebec
Power Metallic Mines Inc. has launched a Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) for its Nisk polymetallic project located in the Eeyou Istchee James Bay territory of Quebec. The company has appointed BBA Inc. as the lead engineering consultant for the study, which is scheduled to begin substantive engineering work in October with a target completion date in the first half of 2027.
The PEA will evaluate mining and processing options, infrastructure requirements, capital and operating costs, and preliminary project economics. The study will focus primarily on the high-grade Lion deposit while also evaluating the Nisk Main deposit based on upcoming metallurgical studies from SGS Canada Inc.
The Nisk project features a high-grade copper-dominated deposit. Recent resource estimates for the Lion Zone include 4.14 million tonnes of indicated material at 3.86% copper equivalent, consisting of copper, palladium, platinum, gold, silver, and nickel. Ongoing drilling programs are currently targeting extensions at depth and along strike.
