Power outages affect thousands in Lloret de Mar and Esporles

Multiple regions in Spain have experienced significant power outages due to technical failures and weather conditions.

In Lloret de Mar, a transformer disconnection at the local substation left approximately 12,000 customers without electricity during the early hours of Wednesday, September 9. The outage affected various neighborhoods, including El Rieral, El Molí, Can Carbó, Fenals, the old town, and Barrí dels Pescadors. Technical teams utilized alternative lines to progressively restore service, with all affected subscribers regaining power by 2:54 a.m. The exact cause of the disconnection remains undetermined.

In Esporles, a power outage lasting over 30 hours has caused widespread disruption. The failure, which began Wednesday afternoon, impacted areas such as ses Rotgetes, Jardín de Flores, Sa Teulera, and Son Quint, with some areas like Port des Canonge and Banyalbufar also affected. The lack of electricity also impacted well operations, leading to water shortages in several parts of the town. Local authorities coordinated with emergency services to provide provisional water supplies via trucks, while Endesa installed a generator in ses Rotgetes as a contingency measure.
