Salto Grande plant stayed online during 12‑hour Concordia outage

The mixed technical commission (CTM) of the binational Salto Grande hydroelectric complex issued a statement after a near‑12‑hour power cut left Concordia, Argentina, without electricity on Saturday. The commission said the plant’s transmission system operated normally throughout the storm, with successful closures of the 500 kV lines at 03:06 and a brief fault on 132 kV lines at 03:32. Technical crews inspected the network, noting fallen trees and damage to 132 kV sections caused by strong winds. All four substations and transformers continued functioning, and service was gradually restored, with electricity returning to customers around 15:00. Salto Grande emphasized that its transmission quadrilateral remained fully operational and that it coordinated with provincial and municipal authorities to accelerate repairs.
