Power outages reported in Vigo and San Vicente

Power outages have caused disruptions in Vigo, Spain, and San Vicente, Argentina, highlighting infrastructure challenges in both regions.

In Vigo, an electrical fault at the Balaídos substation caused sudden outages affecting several neighborhoods, including areas near the stadium and Praza América. The incident impacted residential homes and local businesses, causing issues such as stopped elevators and interrupted commercial activities. While some areas regained power quickly, the recurring nature of these failures has raised concerns among residents.

In San Vicente, located in the southern metropolitan area of Buenos Aires, residents in Alejandro Korn and Domselaar are facing frequent service interruptions. Data from the National Electricity Regulatory Entity (ENRE) indicates that the municipality recorded an average of over 26 outages per user in the last semester, totaling more than 30 hours without supply. Residents have criticized the provider EDESUR, citing issues with deteriorating infrastructure, low voltage, and inadequate response times. The outages have impacted water pumping systems and commercial cold chains.
