Power outages scheduled for Gauteng and various Kenyan counties

Scheduled electricity interruptions are set to affect various regions in South Africa and Kenya.

In South Africa, Eskom has announced load reduction measures in Gauteng between October 12 and October 18. The outages will impact several communities, including parts of Soweto, Tshwane, Ekurhuleni, and Johannesburg. The schedule includes morning interruptions from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and evening interruptions from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., with specific blocks of residents affected on different days.

In Kenya, Kenya Power has scheduled maintenance outages for October 14 across ten counties. Affected areas include Nairobi (Ridgeways and Westlands), Kajiado, Kericho, Nyeri, Meru, Kiambu, Embu, Kirinyaga, and Kitui. These interruptions are intended for maintenance work and will impact various locations, including hospitals, schools, and local markets, typically occurring between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
