Power Outages Sweep Hermosillo Neighborhoods Amid Extreme Heat
New electricity blackouts struck several neighborhoods of Hermosillo on the night of Friday into Saturday, affecting Las Placitas, Nacameri, La Verbena and Paseo San Ángel. Residents reported the supply being restored briefly before failing again, leaving most of the area without power for about 11 hours.
Authorities said the interruptions were caused by overloads in the transformers serving the zones, a problem worsened by temperatures that have risen to 46 °C. The heat poses health risks, especially for older adults, children and infants. Residents said they will consider demonstrations to pressure officials for a permanent solution.
