Power Slap holds first Texas event in Lubbock

Power Slap held its first Texas event at the United Supermarkets Arena in Lubbock on September 17. The promotion strategically scheduled the showcase to coincide with a major collegiate sports weekend at Texas Tech University.

In the light heavyweight championship bout, Ron ‘Wolverine’ Bata retained his title against Logan ‘Kill Shot’ Greenhalgh. The match concluded in the fifth round when Greenhalgh was disqualified for flinching. In the welterweight division, Cole ‘Born Again’ Young successfully defended his championship with a first-round TKO victory over Andrew ‘Big Bad Wolf’ Provost.

The event also featured the Power Slap debut of former UFC heavyweight Chris ‘Beast Boy’ Barnett. Power Slap founder Dana White noted the decision to bring the property to a major collegiate hub to target the demographic of college sports fans gathered for local football festivities.
