Power Trip guitarist credits Pantera tour with band's reformation

Power Trip guitarist Blake Ibanez has described the band’s early 2025 European tour supporting Pantera as “the best tour ever.” Speaking on the “100 Songs That Define Heavy Metal” podcast hosted by Metal Blade Records CEO Brian Slagel, Ibanez reflected on how the experience was pivotal for the group’s reformation.

Following the death of singer Riley Gale, Power Trip had initially reunited with caution, having performed only a handful of shows. Ibanez noted that the band was not even certain they wanted to commit to touring until the opportunity to play arena shows with Pantera arose. The scale of the tour and the positive audience response provided the band with the confidence necessary to continue their career while honoring Gale’s memory.

Ibanez highlighted the significance of playing alongside Pantera, noting the legendary status of the Texas-based band and the honor of sharing a stage with them.
