Power4+ HBCU Esports League to launch in 2027

PlayVS and Urban One have partnered to launch the Power4+ HBCU Esports League, the first competitive gaming community dedicated to Historically Black Colleges and Universities. The league is scheduled to officially launch in February 2027.

An advisory committee composed of esports leaders from various HBCU campuses has been established to manage the league's development. This committee is responsible for selecting game titles, setting competition schedules, and establishing official rules. Participating institutions include Bowie State, Clark Atlanta, Grambling State, and Howard University.

The initiative aims to use esports as a tool for student recruitment, retention, and fostering a sense of belonging, while preparing students for professional opportunities within the global gaming industry.
