Powerball winner James Farthing arrested again on domestic‑violence charges
James Farthing, the 51‑year‑old who won a record $167 million Powerball jackpot in April 2025, was arrested for a fourth time on July 26, 2026 in Scott County, Kentucky. He faces charges of strangulation and assault in a domestic‑violence incident, has been ordered to post a $15,000 bail, wear an electronic monitoring device and keep away from the victim.
The arrest follows a series of legal problems since his lottery win, including a Florida assault charge shortly after the jackpot, a March 2026 robbery of about $12,000 from a Lexington home, and possession of marijuana. Farthing has repeatedly pleaded not guilty and remains under investigation.
