Powerball winner James Farthing arrested in Kentucky
James Farthing, the Kentucky man who won a record $167.3 million Powerball jackpot in April 2025, has been arrested again. Police found Farthing asleep in a running Ford Mustang at a Walmart parking lot in Georgetown, Kentucky, during the early hours of Sunday, September 20.
Officers responded to reports of an idling vehicle at an intersection and discovered Farthing in the passenger seat. Authorities noted he appeared intoxicated and had difficulty maintaining balance. Although Farthing claimed a woman had driven him to the location, security footage reportedly contradicted his account. He has been charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place.
This incident marks Farthing's fifth arrest since winning the jackpot. His legal troubles began shortly after his win, including an arrest in Florida for an altercation that involved assaulting a sheriff’s deputy. Since then, he has faced various charges, including second-degree burglary, marijuana possession, and domestic violence. He has pleaded guilty to some offenses while maintaining innocence in others.
