PowerChina selected to build new El Campín stadium

The Chinese multinational PowerChina has reportedly been selected by Sencia as the contractor for the construction of the new El Campín stadium in Colombia. Under an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) scheme, the company would manage technical studies, supplier contracting, material acquisition, and project execution.

This development could increase the stadium's capacity to 60,000 spectators, surpassing the previous renovation plan which capped attendance at 50,000. The final capacity remains subject to definitive architectural designs and detailed engineering studies. The news arrives amid ongoing criticism regarding execution timelines for the stadium's renewal project.
