Powys councillors to decide on holiday lodge plans near Welshpool

Powys County Council councillors are set to decide on a proposal for six holiday lodges, a reception and office building, and associated facilities near Welshpool. The development, proposed by Mr and Mrs Lewis, is located in a field east of Burgedin Hall between Arddleen and Guilsfield.

The project has faced significant opposition from local residents and the Llandrinio community council due to concerns regarding flooding from the nearby Guilsfield Brook. During public consultation, 30 objections were raised, citing issues such as highway safety, impact on protected species, watercourse pollution, and the potential for increased flooding caused by climate change and upstream alterations. The planning committee will review the scaled-down proposal following its referral by local councillor Ian Harrison.
