Powys County Council greenlights two housing projects in Churchstoke and Llandrindod Wells
Powys County Council’s planning committee unanimously approved a council‑built estate of 38 homes on land adjacent to Fir House in Churchstoke. The scheme includes a mix of one‑, two‑, three‑ and four‑bedroom houses and eight bungalows, with a condition that building must start by March 2029. Councillors also confirmed that a new footpath will be provided on both sides of the A489 to improve village access.
In a separate vote the same committee gave the green light to a proposal by the Bracken Trust to construct three family homes – two three‑bedroom houses and one four‑bedroom house – behind its cancer‑support centre on Cefnllys Lane, Llandrindod Wells. Despite nine objections over drainage, tree removal and site density, senior planning officers recommended approval and a section‑106 agreement to compensate for trees. Eight councillors voted in favour and one abstained.
