Poza Rica inaugurates Totonaco hybrid bus service
Veracruz Governor Rocío Nahle García has inaugurated the Totonaco public transportation service in Poza Rica. The project involves an investment of 210 million pesos and features 40 hybrid buses operating across three routes to connect residential areas, schools, medical units, and commercial zones.
The service will operate from 05:00 to 21:00 with a fare of 15 pesos per trip, payable via rechargeable prepaid cards. To facilitate public adaptation, trips will be free for the first three days.
As part of a broader state mobility expansion, the governor announced that the Papaloapan service will launch next week in Carlos A. Carrillo and Cosamaloapan, with the Atenas service in Xalapa expected to begin by the end of the year with 60 buses. Additionally, the Veracruz Institute for Training and Specialization in Transport and Mobility will be created to train drivers and heavy vehicle operators.
