Poznań city councilors have adopted a new local spatial development plan for Park Golęcin, a 68-hectare area designated as one of the city's four primary sports hubs. The plan aims to balance the development of sports and recreational functions with the protection of the area's natural greenery and blue-green infrastructure.
Key provisions include the revitalization of the historic Summer Swimming Pool on Niestachowska Street and the development of pedestrian and bicycle paths around preserved relics of the ski jump tower and stands. The plan permits the construction of an athletics hall for approximately 1,000 spectators, though its size and location are strictly regulated. To minimize surface impact, an underground garage is planned for the facility.
The development is part of the Western Green Wedge, a 2,500-hectare ecological corridor designed to prevent excessive urban sprawl and ensure air exchange within the city. The planning process followed years of consultations involving local neighborhood councils, community associations, and architects, incorporating resident requests such as the restoration of the natural course of the Bogdanka stream.
