Poznań–Czerwonak pedestrian and cyclist bridge opens over the Warta

A new 154‑metre pedestrian and cyclist bridge spanning the Warta river was opened, linking the north of Poznań with the neighboring Gmina Czerwonak. The structure, 4 metres wide and built with steel‑reinforced concrete arches, cost about 14.2 million zł, of which roughly 70 % (≈9.9 million zł) came from European Union funds under the "Sustainable Urban Mobility in the Poznań Metropolis" programme. The remaining cost was split evenly between the City of Poznań and Gmina Czerwonak, each contributing around 2.16 million zł.

Deputy Mayor of Poznań Bartosz Derech described the project as “proof of cooperation between local governments and effective use of EU funding.” The bridge is part of a broader effort to expand the metropolitan network of pedestrian and cycling routes, complementing a similar crossing opened in Owińsk in mid‑2023. It is expected to improve daily commuting, support recreation, and become a local attraction for tourists heading toward the Zielonka Forest.

The opening marks another milestone in the region’s push for greener, more connected mobility, demonstrating how EU co‑financing can facilitate infrastructure projects that benefit both residents and visitors.
