Pozzolo Formigaro to host Napoleonic historical reenactment
The town of Pozzolo Formigaro will host a three-day Napoleonic historical reenactment titled ‘From the Castle of Pozzolo Formigaro to the Tower of Marengo – in the sign of Napoleon’ from September 4 to 6, 2026. Organized by the local municipality in collaboration with the Marengo Cultural Hub and various historical reenactment groups, the event aims to highlight the region's strategic importance during the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
The program includes military camps, parades, patrols, and battle simulations. Key activities feature a guard change, historical exhibitions at the Town Hall, and a simulated assault on the local castle. The event is free to the public and includes ceremonies to honor the fallen.
Local officials emphasize the historical significance of the area, noting that the castle served as a command post for Russian General Suvorov during the 1799 Battle of Novi and later as a French garrison. The town also celebrates its connection to Giuseppe Ghezzi, a former mayor who served during the Napoleonic era.
