Pozzuoli crackdown nets counterfeit euro network and cocaine bust

Italian State Police, acting on a European arrest warrant issued at the request of French authorities, arrested a 27‑year‑old foreigner at his home in Pozzuoli. He was charged with participation in a criminal organisation involved in trafficking arms, explosives and the production and distribution of counterfeit euro banknotes worth more than €91,000. Police also seized equipment for forging vehicle licence plates, two high‑capacity printers, and two stolen, cloned cars.

In the same day, three brothers aged 64, 60 and 58 were arrested in the Rione Traiano district of Naples after officers found a bag containing 85 packages of cocaine totaling nearly 6.5 kg, along with packaging materials. The operations involved the Mobile Squad, the Central Operational Service, the Campania Crime Prevention Unit and a Europol specialist, resulting in multiple arrests, the seizure of counterfeit money, falsification tools, vehicles and a large drug haul.
