Pozzuoli police arrest man for postal account fraud

A 39-year-old man has been arrested in Pozzuoli, Italy, after attempting to open multiple bank accounts using forged identification. The suspect, who resides in Arcore but stays in Pozzuoli, successfully opened two separate postal current accounts at the Arco Felice post office by presenting electronic identity cards that featured his photograph but contained false names, dates of birth, and addresses.

The scheme was uncovered when the man returned to the same post office for a third time. Upon seeing the two different employees who had previously processed his fraudulent documents, the staff alerted the branch manager. The manager activated anti-fraud protocols and froze the accounts.

The arrest occurred when the man returned to the office to demand explanations for the frozen accounts. Carabinieri officers arrived and discovered counterfeit documents on his person and a cloned license plate on his Honda SH scooter.
