Pozzuoli implements heavy vehicle bans following seismic activity

Following the seismic activity on July 31, authorities in Pozzuoli have implemented heavy vehicle restrictions to ensure public safety. Vehicles exceeding 3.5 tons or 8 meters in length are prohibited from several key roads leading to the port due to concerns regarding unstable buildings. This measure has forced commercial transport to divert to the Porta di Massa terminal in Naples, sparking concerns from transporters and the islands of Ischia and Procida regarding the continuity of essential supplies.

Naples Prefect Michele di Bari and regional officials are working to establish a technical solution to balance road safety with the logistical needs of the islands. Meanwhile, Campania Governor Roberto Fico and Pozzuoli Mayor Luigi Manzoni have emphasized that the priority is facilitating the return of displaced residents to their homes. Approximately 10% to 15% of the 3,300 displaced citizens may return to their residences shortly, provided they have only minor structural damage. Efforts are also underway to amend government decrees to expedite repairs and provide economic assistance to those affected by the earthquake.
