Pozzuoli relaunches bid for Italian Capital of Contemporary Art 2028

The city of Pozzuoli has officially relaunched its candidacy to become the Italian Capital of Contemporary Art for 2028. This announcement follows a period of silence intended to respect the local community following a dramatic seismic event on July 31.

Paolo Lubrano, director of the “City of Creative Fragilities” project, stated that the candidacy has been redefined to address the current needs of the territory. He emphasized that culture should serve as a structural pillar for the moral and civil reconstruction of the community, rather than acting as mere decoration or a temporary palliative. The initiative aims to integrate arts into the social context to support the city's recovery after the earthquake.
