Pozzuoli schools to reopen September 15 following seismic activity

Municipal schools in Pozzuoli are scheduled to reopen on September 15 for the start of the academic year, following safety inspections conducted after a seismic event on July 31. Mayor Luigi Manzoni announced that while most schools will resume normal operations, the Marconi complex will remain closed. To ensure students can begin classes on time, Marconi's primary school classes will be relocated to the Diano complex, and kindergarten sections will move to the Rosini complex.

Additionally, the gymnasiums and auditoriums at the Quasimodo-Collodi and Borsellino institutes will remain closed until safety upgrades are completed, which is expected by October 10.

Regarding the broader impact of the July 31 tremor in the Campi Flegrei area, the municipality has issued 367 evacuation orders affecting 1,391 families, totaling 3,488 people. These individuals are being assisted through autonomous housing, hotel stays, or temporary shelters. Firefighters have conducted 1,473 interventions, resulting in 215 buildings being declared uninhabitable, affecting 1,081 housing units.
