Pozzuoli station opens as Cumana railway service restores
The Cumana railway service has been fully restored between Torregaveta and Montesanto, marking the reopening of the entire line after a 40-day interruption on the Bagnoli–Torregaveta section. This restoration coincides with the official opening of the new Pozzuoli station, an infrastructure project managed by EAV with funding from the Campania Region.
The reopening follows safety interventions, including the securing of the Monte Olibano tunnel, necessitated by recent bradyseism activity in the Campi Flegrei area. While the new station is fully operational to ensure immediate passenger mobility, some finishing works are expected to continue until December 2026.
In related transit updates for the Naples area, Metro Line 1 continues track renewal work, keeping Piscinola-Scampia, Chiaiano, and Frullone stations closed until September 13. Meanwhile, Line 2 remains suspended between Pozzuoli and Campi Flegrei due to ongoing bradyseism concerns and CO2 levels in the Flegrea tunnel, with replacement buses currently in service.
