PP and Vox close in on agreement for Andalusia parliament leadership

The People's Party (PP) and Vox are meeting hours before the start of the new Andalusian legislature to finalize a deal on the Parliament's Mesa. The talks, led by regional president Juanma Moreno and Vox leader Manuel Gavira, aim to secure the support needed for Moreno’s investiture and to allocate leadership posts, including a possible vice‑presidency for Vox.

Vox has stressed that policy priorities – stricter immigration control, support for agriculture and tax cuts – take precedence over immediate parliamentary seats. While the PP holds enough seats to form the Mesa on its own, it is seeking Vox’s backing to smooth the investiture process. Previous agreements in other autonomous communities have seen Vox granted vice‑presidencies, and similar arrangements are being discussed in Andalusia.

The first plenary session, scheduled for midday, will vote on the Mesa positions, starting with the president, then vice‑presidents and secretaries. Both parties have kept details of the negotiations under a pact of silence, leaving the outcome uncertain as the legislature convenes.
