Greece electricity tariffs: PPC reduces blue plan amid wholesale price surge

Greek electricity suppliers have announced updated tariffs for September, following a significant rise in wholesale energy prices, which increased by approximately 21% in August.

In response to market volatility, PPC (ΔΕΗ) has reduced the price of its 'blue' fixed-rate myHome Online plan to 0.115 €/kWh. This move aims to provide predictability for households amid rising costs. Meanwhile, green (variable) tariffs have seen increases, with the average cost rising to approximately 20.7 cents/kWh, though some providers like Heron have maintained stable rates by absorbing wholesale hikes.

PPC also updated its green tariff (Γ1/Γ1Ν) to 0.14913 €/kWh, a 7.7% increase that is notably lower than the wholesale surge. Other providers, such as Protergia and Enerwave, are employing various commercial strategies, including tiered pricing and loyalty discounts, to manage the impact of the energy crisis on consumers.
