PPdeG honors 2,600 former local representatives in Pontevedra
The Partido Popular (PPdeG) held a large-scale tribute in Sanxenxo to honor approximately 2,600 former mayors and councilors from the province of Pontevedra who have served the party since 1979.
During the event, held at the Nantes municipal pavilion, PPdeG President Alfonso Rueda and former Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy were among those recognized, as both previously served as local councilors in Pontevedra. Rueda emphasized that effective politics begins at the local level and described the honorees as a vital legacy that has built the party into a ‘great family.’
The ceremony, described by provincial president Luis López as a significant act of municipalism, saw around 1,500 attendees. The event served as a platform for the party to rally support ahead of upcoming electoral challenges, including the November 29 elections and the 2027 municipal elections.
