PPMI and Alipay+ link QR Ph to global digital payments

Philippine Payments Management, Inc. (PPMI) and Ant International’s Alipay+ have partnered to integrate the Alipay+ gateway with QR Ph, the Philippines’ national QR code payment standard. This integration allows international travelers to use their home e-wallets and banking apps to pay at any merchant accepting QR Ph codes.

Local businesses, particularly micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the retail, food, and travel sectors, can accept these international payments using their existing QR Ph infrastructure without needing additional hardware or separate payment systems. The move aligns with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ goals for digital payments transformation.

According to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ 2025 Report on E-Payments Measurement, digital payments accounted for 64.69% of retail transaction volume in the Philippines, with QR Ph transactions seeing a more than 13-fold increase during that year.
