PPP and PML-N hold coalition talks in Lahore

The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) held a meeting at the Governor House in Lahore to revive the coordination committee mechanism after an 18-month hiatus. The discussions focused on political cooperation and the implementation of previous agreements within the coalition government.

The two parties provided conflicting accounts of the meeting's outcome. The PML-N described the talks as positive, stating that both sides expressed satisfaction with the implementation of prior decisions and reaffirmed their commitment to working together in the national interest. They emphasized a desire to strengthen communication and political coordination.

Conversely, PPP sources reported that the discussions were far from smooth. The PPP expressed dissatisfaction with the pace of implementing previously agreed commitments and indicated they were not interested in piecemeal updates regarding the “due share” formula. Instead, the PPP urged the PML-N to address broader concerns raised by the party leadership rather than focusing on individual demands.
